8 Years of eTestware – from Tallinn to the world
Earlier this year, we celebrated 8 years of eTestware. As we now approach 2023, we decided to take another look at this historical milestone. Born in Estonia in 2014, a lot has happened in the past 2,920+ days for both eTestware and the world at large. Here we look at both…
8 Years is a long time
That may sound like an obvious thing to say, but it can be easy to forget just how long a passage of time 8 years is. Here are key events from each year that eTestware has been software testing. How many are now surprisingly old in your estimation?
2014 – The Ukrainian Revolution
2015 – The Charlie Hebdo office attack
2016 – Donald Trump wins the US election
2017 – The Westminster Bridge terror attack
2018 – GDPR comes into effect in the European Union
2019 – Donald Trump is impeached
2020 – COVID-19
2021 – Joe Biden becomes the US President
2022 – Queen Elizabeth II passes away
eTestware
eTestware started out in 2014 in Estonia, joining our ICE brand and effectively signalling the beginnings of theICEway ecosystem. ICE’s work in complex system implementations and integrations was key to this development. The team there discovered that software testing, whilst often seen as a ‘nice thing to have’, was actually a very important aspect of the overall digital offering. The eTestware HQ remains in Tallinn to this day, complete with Estonian software testers. Estonia is very much a digital haven, with schools teaching children about IT and technology from a very early age. Read more about Estonia, the ‘Silicon Valley of Europe’.
Joining our functional software testing team are experts from the UK, the US, Australia and other parts of Europe. Our outsourced solutions are delivered to both software vendors and customers. When we describe our services, we use the term ‘right-sourced’. This is due to the fact that we see collaborations as being just that. Any collaboration must be a completely joint effort. We ensure that we understand you and your business in full before work is started. It is only through testing that the overall quality of a system or software can be truly improved.
eTestware + ICE + CRIBB Cyber Security = theICEway
As aforementioned, eTestware joined ICE 8 years ago. ICE was founded in 2007 as a UK Managed Service Provider. Known then as ‘ICE Support Ltd.’, the company also delivered IT / Technology consultancy, IT support and more. The team worked in industries including travel and healthcare but it was in cruise that they gained a particularly strong reputation. It was not long before offices around the world were added, including in Australia. eTestware increased the ecosystem’s global reach and then in 2016, CRIBB Cyber Security was added. This meant that we could now provide solutions backed by a ‘security by design’ approach.
CRIBB is an official certification body that is backed by the UK government. Working alongside the IASME Consortium, the team started out by offering Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Governance. These certification schemes are very much still on the agenda, although they are now backed up with complete, end-to-end cyber resilience solutions. It is crucial to note that brands such as CRIBB can provide a far more focused approach to cyber security than in-house IT departments.
