eTestware in 2021: A brand new year
eTestware in 2021 is in a slightly different place to eTestware in 2020. The pandemic has certainly had a major impact on many organisations. As part of theICEway, our collective teams have tried to use the time wisely. We have all re-evaluated our positions and refined our offering. Today, we revisit a speculative blog piece from last year. The piece was based upon a goal we had for 2020, which was to maximise our output. That particular goal remains plus we now have an even stronger focus.

This time last year we were getting excited about what 2020 held for us. We had cemented our position and re-launched our regular blogs. Our intentions were to share our experiences in software testing. Since its inception in 2014, eTestware’s testing experts have covered everything from establishing objectives to delivering full quality assurance.
Our first step towards sharing our thoughts was to look at an article on maximising return. More specifically, it provided tips on how to assess the basic value of implementing a testing service.
Top Tips on measuring testing service value
- Set up core performance metrics (productivity, cost)
- Choose to include additional measurements key to your organisation
- Deep-dive into individual productivity metrics based upon each testing cycle (number of tests executed, defects entered)
- Consider extra data analysis plus separate test execution metrics for different types of tests
- Maintain detailed logs on number of tests carried out and individual downtime incidents
- Consider the total cost of the testing to truly gauge effectiveness

12 months on, it can be argued that we have delivered upon our objective for the blog. We have covered historical articles designed to offer testing tips and advice. Explored the different types of testing. We have extolled the values of right-sourcing rather than outsourcing. We’ve shared updates from theICEway’s ICEbreaker newsletter. So what of the opening statement in this piece? ‘eTestware in 2021 is in a slightly different place to eTestware in 2020’. Let’s expand upon that…
1 year on
Our objectives with the blog at least remain as they were in 2020. Now though, we are going to deploy a greater focus. You can still expect tips and advice based upon our experiences. New to our articles will be more on the sectors we predominantly work in: Insurance, cruise, travel and healthcare. We will mix our content up a lot more too, incorporating infographics and video. We’ll talk more about our people and our birthplace, Estonia. The ‘Silicon Valley of Europe’, it was recently a star in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. We still retain the identity we had before Covid, and our core values remain in place: People, integrity, innovation.
eTestware now is much stronger, however. We have spent the last 12 months evaluating key processes. Much has been said about the (many) negative effects of the pandemic. That is absolutely fine and very necessary. Let’s now start talking more about some of the positives that have come out of it.
