ICE in 2022: theICEway & eTestware
Last month we celebrated our 8th birthday here at eTestware. ICE in 2022 is set to turn 15 in May, so the team at theICEway are feeling excited and nostalgic. The topic for our latest blog is our own impact upon the ecosystem as a whole. We’ll look at where we are today and then what the future may hold.
Read about eTestware turning 8.
A brief history
In 1995, Ian Richardson and Conor Byrne embarked upon a professional journey that continues to this day. They successfully combined their IT skills for over a decade together, before then deciding to set up their own company. Thus ICE Support Ltd. was born in 2007, establishing what was to become a core element of theICEway ecosystem.
In 2014, this fledgling ecosystem then grew to incorporate a software testing arm. This development was largely due to ICE’s dealings with clients on complex system implementations and integrations. It became very clear that QA testing is key when working on technology projects involving new systems.
The rise of eTestware
Once ICE Support Ltd. had been set up, Ian and Conor began to work on expansion. This was always going to take time as the pair wanted to do things the right way. Their initial focus then was on offering clients the most robust IT support possible. From this baseline, opportunities for growth began to emerge.
Outsourced software testing was one such opportunity. Even 8 years ago, there were a lot of software testing companies in the marketplace. The key would be to establish one that was agile, scalable and above all else, as IT ‘savvy’ as possible.
Enter Estonia, the world’s most technologically advanced country. Every Estonian citizen has an ID card, which can be used for digital signatures – impressive. And so eTestware was established with an HQ in Tallinn. A team of very talented software testers was created and we’re lucky to have them to this day.
Estonian tech facts
- Estonia was the first country to hold online elections
- Electronic income tax returns are submitted (introduced as far back as the year 2000)
- 99% of bank transfers are electronic
That is all for ‘ICE in 2022: theICEway & eTestware’. Over the last few months we have published a lot of articles about the brands within our ecosystem. It is only natural to be reflective when faced with so many milestones:
- November 2021 – CRIBB Cyber Security turns 5
- February 2022 – eTestware turns 8
- May 2022 – ICE turns 15
Moving forwards however, we’ll be turning our attentions more towards software testing itself. We’ll bring you tips, advice and we’ll look at the processes involved. There will still be some brand updates and regular news round-ups, too.
